Lover’s Eye
This design draws from the history of eye miniatures (aka Lover’s Eyes) that were popular for a brief period in the late 18th Century. I first saw this form of portraiture a few years ago at the V&A and fell in love with its psychological strangeness and the detail crammed into ruby-garlanded brooches, pearl-encrusted charms, and eye paintings set with diamond tears (swipe for examples!)The fact that it's a fragmented portrait adds some mystery to the identity of the subject ~ except when that subject has unmistakably iconic eye makeup.Lover's Eye jewellery was used as a token between lovers to embody the romantic gaze, so it seemed like the perfect vehicle for depicting Elvis & Priscilla's secret courtship in a new way. The pin is set with a border of 18 pearls and updates the miniature portrait with Priscilla's signature cat eye makeup and 1960s eyeshadow.During the design process, I realised that this collision of the modern with the 18th Century happens in another Sofia Coppola film: Marie Antoinette!

Presley Record
There had to be a music reference in the series for a story set in the 60s music scene ~ especially as Sofia Coppola always has the best soundtracks in her work. This pin is a miniature vinyl made with 3D molded grooves and black enamel. In the same way the film's title foregrounds Priscilla over Elvis as the main Presley, I wanted to have her name where his would usually be on a vinyl label, along with the date of the film's release. The colour is also a reference to Elvis' Golden Records, a compilation album released in 1958 that's considered to be the first greatest hits album.

Pink Cadillac
Except it isn't pink! Instead it was custom painted in a secret colour tone called "Elvis Rose" by the Presleys' neighbour. This model of Cadillac was the second of three purchased by Elvis between 1955 & 1961 and is the model displayed at the Graceland Museum. To draw this design, I actually used a little model car my dad has as a reference ~ which might have contributed to how rounded and toy-like the final pin looks. I added in some extra gold accents because it looks so good next to cream and p̶i̶n̶k̶ Elvis Rose. This one was fun to make as a real life object from Priscilla's time at Graceland, and fits in nicely with the lush Sofia Coppola aesthetic
