National Theatre x Mink
We wanted to make a souvenir for a theatregoing audience and I started thinking about what objects could reflect the experience of going to the theatre. I realised that the audience’s relationship with the show always starts at the box office!
I've kept all the ticket stubs from my favourite shows ~ to me they hold some of the excitement and memory of a live performance. This pin is a permanent version of that memento: a ticket stub for the National Theatre as a whole rather than one single show. Each one includes the theatre's origin date and part of its mission statement and sits on a miniature illustrated box office made by me.
Available to buy from the National Theatre's shop on Southbank or online via this link.

The National Theatre has been significant to me even before I moved to London, when I’d go to NT Live screenings in Cork. Since then I've seen so many talks there that have stayed with me and plays that I've loved (including The Ocean at the End of the Lane, my all-time number one). I had my first production meetings as a freelancer in the cosy foyer and still spend days working in the café when I need to feel motivated.Over the years, some of my posters that were used as playtext covers even found their way into the bookshop ~ but to design something specifically for the shop that addresses the theatre itself is a very proud moment for me!
