I dreamt of finding a collection of blank letters in a desk. After rummaging through them for a few minutes, these words were suddenly all over each one: “You have been here before.”

This pin recreates that image! The surface of the letter is a heat-sensitive panel: once you add heat, like warm water, the faded text turns bright and visible. The effect lasts about 30 seconds (or about as long as a dream). A secret message you can choose to reveal or keep to yourself.

I like the idea of an object telling you something. It has a Twin Peaks dream vibe to it (“It is happening again”). I think this dream mainly came about because I was playing Disco Elysium and going to The Burnt City a lot at the time. The Burnt City is an immersive show that encourages you to explore the massive spaces, follow characters, dig into details, rummage through drawers and explore written scraps of paper in the shrines and sets around the city. It also encourages you to explore the world around you in the same way, maybe even in your dreams!
